Added to the course after Wings Over Dallas, this module traces the accident’s finding directly to NTSB Safety Recommendation A-24-35, which asked ICAS, with the FAA and industry, to develop standardized phraseology for air bosses. That recommendation exists because air bosses lacked a shared, unambiguous term set that pilots could rely on under pressure.

The module walks through the resulting Standardized Air Boss Lexicon: the briefing card organized into seven categories, the usage principles behind it, and worked radio examples showing the terms in an actual transmission. Important context: this lexicon is a discussion draft. It has not been adopted as an FAA or ICAS standard, and it is not a required term set yet, this module presents where the effort currently stands.

Air Boss 102 is the ICAS Air Boss Recognition Program (ABRP) recurrency course for current Basic Air Boss (BAB), Standard Air Boss (SAB), Recognized Air Boss / Single Venue (RAB/SV), and Recognized Air Boss / Multiple Venue (RAB/MV) Letter of Authorization holders. It satisfies the recurrency topics required under ABRP Manual Section 11(a)(vi).
