Air show days rarely shut an airport down completely. This module covers managing mixed operations, running a waivered show alongside continuing airport activity, and the ground safety hotspots that come with it: a color-coded zone system for ramp access, deconfliction between performer movement and ground traffic, and where jurisdiction actually sits when something goes wrong on the ramp.
It closes with three specialty elements that don’t fit neatly elsewhere, Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) operations, pyrotechnics, and car or jet car acts, plus a real FAA reference figure showing a typical air show layout so the zone concepts have a concrete picture to attach to.
Air Boss 102 is the ICAS Air Boss Recognition Program (ABRP) recurrency course for current Basic Air Boss (BAB), Standard Air Boss (SAB), Recognized Air Boss / Single Venue (RAB/SV), and Recognized Air Boss / Multiple Venue (RAB/MV) Letter of Authorization holders. It satisfies the recurrency topics required under ABRP Manual Section 11(a)(vi).
